Funny Japanese Things

Here's an ongoing list of some of the funny food and other products that I've run across here in Japan:

  • Men's Spray - Super Hard
Who knew Viagra came in a can!?

  • CalorieMate Food Block
Only $2 for an entire meal!

  • Pocari Sweat (energy drink)

  • Calpis (pronounced the way a Japanese person might say Cow Piss in Japanese (karu pisu) - a milky soda)

  • Kit Kat Soda
Not really soda, but they sell it in a vending machine and it looks like a soda can. It's really a bottle with kit kat inside. Quite shocking if you were expecting something liquid. For some reason they don't have candy vending machinese here in Japan. They only sell candy at conbini (convenience stores). Kit Kat in Japan also come in Green Tea and Passion Fruit flavors!

  • Crunky Chocolate - for all you from the "Dirty South"(Tm). Now also available in Crunky Mango Chocolate; kind of a weird mangoey, crunch popcorny white chocolate.

  • Delicious egg pizza
Various toppings, including egg, mayo, and squid

  • A Chinese Fertility restaurant

And, yes, the other side of the bell is what you think it is.

  • And, just for kicks, who doesn't love a good dog drinking beer sign? His shirt says beer, by the way (Biiru).

This is very nice.
I never went to see Sumo or did Onsen, so it's very interesting to read about it. And I always wanted to write about the snacky food in Japan! You are to be envied.
